Our current goal is to deliver 10 to 12 beautiful quilts to the Welcome to Waterloo youth shelter scheduled to open in the Spring. The Welcome to Waterloo facility will support youth in Guelph who are experiencing homelessness and housing instability. It is the newest facility under the Home for Good umbrella.

They have requested quilts for double beds. We suggest quilts measuring approximately 65” to 74” wide and 85” to 90” long.  As always, sizes will vary based on the quilt’s design.

Spearheaded by the United Way, The Home for Good Campaign is a Guelph initiative to reduce chronic homelessness by 50%. RCQG, with the generous financial support of the Guelph Lions Club, has provided quilts to the following facilities:

  • Kindle Communities Apartments (permanent supportive housing)
  • Grace Gardens (permanent supportive housing)
  • Bellevue Support Housing (permanent supportive housing for youth)
  • 65 Delhi (transitional housing)

MEMBER CONTRIBUTIONS

This project offers members a variety of ways to contribute:

  • The time and talents of quilters willing and able to quilt tops to backing and batting are always appreciated. Please email the outreach team or stop by an in-person Mingle to pick up a flimsy bundle which includes a top, batting, and backing.
  • Do you enjoy binding and labeling quilts? Whether you like to bind by hand or machine, we would love to have your help. Please email the outreach team or stop by an in-person Mingle

You can contribute to this project by attending an in-person Mingle. Alternatively, you may also do a porch drop off/pick up by sending a message to the outreach team. Please consider:

  1. Dropping off a contribution;
  2. Picking up a bundle to complete; or
  3. Picking up a quilted item to label and bind.

COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTIONS

Royal City Quilters’ Guild appreciates the generous financial support of the Guelph Lions Club and the City of Guelph who are helping us wrap some of Guelph’s most vulnerable members in a quilt.
