Giving back to the community through our outreach programs is an important part of RCQG’s mission and has been for many years. In addition to sewing for Guild activities, some members actively support initiatives to which they have a special, personal connection.

We are grateful to the City of Guelph for their support of our Outreach activities.

Royal City Quilters’ Guild is proud to support Quilts of Valour – Canada Society. We are part of the Kitchener, Ontario region. We invite members of the public to join us at the Royal Canadian Legion Br 234 in Guelph located at 57 Watson Parkway South in Guelph for one of our public sew days:
Spearheaded by the United Way, The Home for Good Campaign is a Guelph initiative to reduce chronic homelessness by 50%. The campaign has raised money to complete three projects that provide permanent supportive housing units for 72 of Guelph’s chronically homeless individuals as well transitional housing. With generous support from the Guelph Lions Club, RCQG provides quilts to welcome these residents (and future residents) to their new homes.
This is a current Guild project.
RCQG sends quilts loving made by members to Guelph General Hospital and, more recently, to St. Joseph’s Health Centre. Hospital staff direct these donations to units where need is greatest. In the past, those units have included the Sexual Assault & Domestic Violence Care and Treatment Centre and the Birthing Unit. More recently, our donations have gone to palliative care units. Our hospital initiatives have received support from donations of fabrics and batting from community members as well as financial donations from the Guelph General Hospital Foundation and the Rotary Club of Guelph South.
