Membership

RCQG welcomes new members. Attend a Guild meeting or Member Mingle as a guest and join as a member if you like what you see.

Guests

Guests are welcome at the virtual monthly membership meeting for a fee of $10.00. If a guest decides to join RCQG at the next meeting, the guest fee paid can be credited to a full membership. No more than one guest fee may be applied to a membership.

The guest fee for a Member Mingle is $15.

Members

Membership dues for the Guild are $45.00 per year which runs from September through June. For those who join in February (or later), the fee is reduced to $35 for the balance of the year. Membership includes a subscription to our newsletter, the opportunity to attend all Guild meetings which include a guest speaker, the chance to join in guild workshops (fees may apply), attendance at Mingles, participation in our virtual celebration of International Quilting Day and in-person access to our extensive library of quilting books, stencils and videos. Many members enjoy participating in our special interest groups or sewing for community outreach projects. Read more about The RCQG Experience below.

The RCQG Experience

RCQG offers a mix of virtual and in-person experiences for our members. We developed this model based on input from membership. Three themes emerged from their input:

  1. Some of our local members are unable to drive at night making in-person meetings unavailable to them.
  2. Those attending in-person meetings want more time and space to mingle than regular guild meetings provide.
  3. Those attending virtual meetings were generally satisfied with their experience.

Inspired by the in-person efforts of a neighbouring guild, the RCQG Executive began making plans for our Member Mingles for those who are eager for in-person events. We hope the new, mixed model will provide the best of both worlds to our members.

Which events are virtual?

Each month, we offer a virtual meeting featuring a guest speaker. This is the most cost-effective way to bring the high-quality speakers members have come to expect and the majority of members like the virtual format.

We offer our highly successful workshops on Zoom to bring informative and innovative speakers/teachers you heard in a meeting.

We co-host the popular Virtual Celebration of International Quilting Day with other partner guilds.

Aly hosts virtual sew days on the second Saturday of the month.

We support special interest groups – many of whom prefer to meet on Zoom.

Which events are in-person?

In September 2023, we began to offer in-person Member Mingles to provide our members opportunities to meet together and connect with others who share their interest in the quilting arts. Come Mingle with us at Guelph’s Royal Canadian Legion between 10 am and 3:30 pm [Eastern]. You can get more details about the Mingles under the Activities section of our website.

We are grateful to the Guelph Legion for providing space for our events. Watch the newsletter and website for updates on new opportunities to meet in-person.
