Virtual Workshop Description

This 34-inch by 42.5-inch quilt top was made with only 33 seams total.  Total fabric requirements: sixteen strips of fabrics all cut from selvage to selvage at width 4 inches. Half of the fabrics should be of approximately one colour and half in some contrasting colour. In a four-hour class you can complete half of this quilt. Tube piecing temporarily works with three-dimensional tubes (of comfortable size) to allow for very streamlined, fast, and accurate piecing of repeating two-dimensional patterns of various degrees of intricacy. The basic patterns are all-over parallelograms, rows of triangles, and blocks of parallelograms. More advanced projects build on top of these.  Take this class to see the method in action.

Three scrap quilts using half-square triangles in different layouts.

Why Cotton & Bourbon? I’m a quilter from Kentucky! I’ve also been known to have a bourbon during the evening sewing hours. 🥃 I’ve always identified as a maker, and I’ve sewn for as long as I can remember, but only began quilting in 2005. In 2018, I set a personal goal to exhibit my work in a juried quilt show, which motivated me to design and create a series of original quilts. Since then, my quilts have been exhibited and recognized at Quilt National, International Quilt Festival, and QuiltCon. I share my creative process on Instagram via @CottonandBourbon
